HistoryAbout RRACSSU | Training Support and Advice On the 1st of July 2001 the Remote Aboriginal Children's Services Support Unit began operating in the Northern Region of the Northern Territory. We were a small team of 2.5 staff. We had approximately 23 services that we use to visit and we would try and visit them all about 4 times a year. When we first started we didn’t have an office, in fact we worked out of the Project Co-ordinators lounge room for about 3 weeks before moving into a very small office in the shopping centre at Rapid Creek. This was where the other Children’s Service Support Organisations were also located. It wasn’t until August 2002 that we were able to finally move into the Batchelor Office in Parap. Gradually over the years our staffing numbers have increased as has our client base. Now in November 2006 we have begun a new journey for our team with our new name Regional and Remote Aboriginal Children and Services Support Unit. We have increased to 4.6 staff members and we have a client base of 43 services. |
